About Francisco Escobar
-
Francisco Escobar, born in Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico on November 7, 1986, is a multifaceted artist with a strong background in engineering design from the Universidad del Istmo. However, his passion for the arts led him to the School of Fine Arts in Oaxaca, where he refined his skills and graduated in 2009. His artistic journey was further enriched by mentorship under the Spanish Art Master Domingo Perez 'Chomin' and specialized courses in oil painting and engraving with Shinzaburo Takeda. He also pursued studies in ceramics and sculpture under Angela Maria Restrepo and Rodrigo Monsalve Isaza, respectively.
Escobar's commitment to continual learning took him to the University of Antioquia in 2004 for a seminar on Renaissance art and later to a certificate program in cultural management in 2005. His international exposure includes art restoration studies at ECORE in Barcelona, Spain (2007), and workshops at the New York Art School Salmagundi (2010).
Escobar's work, inspired by a range of themes from nature to architecture, is characterized by his unique use of the knife for finishing touches. He believes in the daily pursuit of improvement and joy in his artistic creations.
His collective exhibitions include "La Otra Campaña" (2005), "Sueños" at restaurant Holala, Oaxaca (2006), "Una Aproximación Contemporánea" at MEAPO (2012), and "Arte Oaxaqueño Guenda" at the Autonomous University Benito Juárez of Oaxaca (2014), among others. His international showcases extend to UNAM Chicago (2014) and the Museum of Regional Huajuapan (2014).
In his solo exhibitions, Escobar has displayed his works in various prestigious venues, including the public library of Oaxaca, the Railroad Museum of Oaxaca, the Cultural Complex of Carmen Tehuacán, Puebla, and the José Vasconcelos building at UABJO.
His contribution to the arts extends beyond painting, as he has taught oil painting courses, participated in art festivals like Bella Vía in Monterrey, and contributed to book illustrations. His works have been recognized and collected by various institutions, including the State Museum of Popular Art Oaxaca and the City Museum of Veracruz.
Francisco Escobar is not only an artist of exceptional talent but also a significant contributor to the cultural and educational landscape of Mexico.
